Well, well beyond if you consider how far we could see from Floibanen Funicular Railway (www.floibanen.no). It starts at the base of the hill and travels a long way up. But that was this afternoon.
Great traditional Norwegian (or so we are told, how would we know?) breakfast at Hotel Augustin. What a great place! Quaint (synonym for small, in this case) rooms with luxurious beds and long, long daylight. We had a great dinner at the hotel tonight too.
After said great breakfast, we set out on a leisurely walk to the market. Today, Pentecost, was celebrated as a national holiday (Holy Day), so the general commercial stores were closed. But the street vendors were out and hawking. Man, that was fun! Now Birdie has a sweater from Sweden and I have a sweater from Norway.
We walked along the pier and looked at the sights. I couldn't help myself, so finally I looked at my lovely Norwegian wife and said, "You look like a Beach Angel!"
After a lot of looking at the marvelous souvenirs we decided not to buy. But just to be daring, I touched a lot of 'em and picked 'em up too.
By now it was lunch time and we had my favorite light lunch of the trip so far. We did have that magnificent breakfast that was holding us well. We had a beer, then had an ice cream cone for dessert. Beat that if you can!
Words hardly suffice to say how much fun we are having - already! The photos will have to supplement my thousand words.
Note to Debbie: Plenty of underwear so far. Commando will be much later in the trip.
Note we have three new authors too!
Ken
